GLEE CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT
Greetings Brothers and Sisters of the Cincinnati Fire Department
Many years ago (when I was a “Subbie” at Engine 19), I attended the funeral of retired Engineer of that company Floyd Westfeld aka “Westie”. He was a character of characters, and well loved by all who knew him. All at the funeral had grand memories of his past antics, and wanted to share stories about him however…the somber atmosphere of the funeral home was not appropriate
of humor of any sort. We all left the service filled with untold stories.
It was at that time, I felt there was a need for an appropriate atmosphere for those stories to be told in honor of those we worked with. With that in mind, I searched locations, where we could gather, pass around a microphone to all attendees and tell our stories. BW-3 in Harrison Ohio was chosen for the early meetings, and appropriately named “The Glee Club Meeting” by Brother Kevin (KO) Campbell. At that location we had a private room where the party began and when the waitress went to fill our orders, the manager asked what we were doing back there, and her response was “I think they’re making fun of dead people”
That statement is the benchmark of the “Glee Club”. Make fun, have fun, and HONOR those we lived with!!!
The location was moved to Kreimer’s Bier Haus due to the popularity and the addition of both indoor and outdoor accommodations depending on weather. It has steadily increased since the early inception.
As with all life’s events, there comes a time to pass the baton to those who will hopefully carry out this popular venue. It is time for me to do so and will assist anyone, or any group (Local 48) to carry this on. If there is any interest in taking this on, please contact me at eemley4@gmail.com and I will get back to you. I am VERY hopeful this will carry on, and look forward to attending, rather than being a story at the event.
Most Sincerely
Ed Emley

2021 MEETING
The GLEE CLUB crew wishes you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year ahead. As you may know, the October meeting has been put off to be included in the May 2022 meeting. I plan to host this event in mid-May........UNLESS I'm on the list instead of READING the list.........As of December 12th, we will be celebrating the lives of our Brothers (no Sisters on list as of this date) listed below. Please stay tuned for further details as springtime approaches. And remember....It's more fun to tell funny stories in a bar with beer, wine, whiskey and food.....than it is in a funeral parlor with tears, organ music and the smell of roses. Stay healthy my friends.....and come out and tell a great story about the following:
